The du chair - Available for trial at our Eastwood clinic
Try the du chair in South Australia
We are pleased to partner with SYSTM Furniture, the creators of the du chair, making it available for trial at our Eastwood clinic.
The du chair is a passive assist chair designed to support safe and controlled sitting and standing, without motors, cords, or electrical power. It works by balancing the natural movement of the body through a patented mechanical system, allowing users to sit and stand with greater confidence while still engaging their own strength.
As the du team does not yet have a showroom in South Australia, our clinic provides a local opportunity for individuals, families, and health professionals to trial the chair under the guidance of an occupational therapist.
What is the du Chair?
The du chair is designed for people who want or need support with sitting and standing while still maintaining independence and strength.
Key features include:
Passive sit-to-stand assistance using patented balancing technology
Adjustable assistance dial to tailor support to the individual
No power or electricity required
Built-in release mechanism in the armrests to assist standing
Contemporary furniture design suitable for a home environment
Unlike powered lift chairs, the du chair is designed to support movement rather than replace it, helping to maintain more muscle engagement during sit-to-stand transfers
Who Might Benefit?
The du chair may be suitable for people who:
Experience difficulty standing from a seated position
Want to maintain independence at home
Require support with sit-to-stand transfers
Are exploring alternatives to powered lift chairs
A trial allows an occupational therapist to assess whether the chair is appropriate for the individual’s needs and environment. For more information on why we have partnered with SYSTM to provide trials of the du chair in South Australia, please see our blog post here.
Trial the du Chair
Trials are available by appointment at our Eastwood clinic.
During the session, our occupational therapists will demonstrate how the chair works, assess suitability for the individual, discuss whether the chair may support independence at home, and explore alternative options if du is not suitable.
